I get so confused by this storyteller-haven that Americans think Oxford is. Beyond Lewis, Tolkien and the other Lewis (Carrol) it’s really not something Oxford talks about unless you’re at the story museum. If anything, Oxford is artist-starving because while it has loads of museums and galleries for those with a name, there isn’t the venue space for those on the up. If there is any, it’s all in East Oxford, which is removed from the university stereotypes as possible.
If people would like to see Oxford through local artists, I’d check out The Big Orange M or the MES crew on Instagram. They’re the ones making art today! Or Amie McNee who lives in a village not too far away where she writes with her husband.
Sorry friend but I just feel a need to correct stereotypes about my wonderful city 😄 Thank you for an excellent article.
What! Very excited for your Hutchmoot talk. I think I’ll miss out this year, unfortunately. But I’ll get someone to tell me all about it!
Sorry to hear you won't be there! 😢 You'll be missed!
Glad you liked two of my recent articles, I feel grateful for your distribution.
